Castle Rocks State Park, ID

When Laurie said she wanted to go visit her friend who lives near Twin Falls, I knew a side stop at Castle Rocks was in order. Saturday afternoon and we had the place to ourselves. Climbed "Big Time", a long route on good rock. This area resembles nearby City of Rocks, but apparently the word hasn't got out yet. The area was previously a private ranch, but was recently purchased by the State of Idaho and opened to climbing. New routes are still being developed.

The surrounding Albion Mountains looked enticing. This is a zoomed view of what I believe is Cache Peak. This cirque is home to the only alpine lakes in Idaho, south of the Snake River Plain.
