Headed north last weekend with Ken, and rendezvoused with Alex and Dave. It was great to spend some time in the mountains with some quality individuals that I don't see often enough. Dave, Ken, and Alex near the cabin on the hike in. Arriving at the accommodations. A big thanks goes out to Ken for having us at his cabin. He's put alot of work into it, and it shows. It's perched above Palisades Reservoir. We decided we might as well do a little skiing. Here's Dave skiing some trees out the back door of the cabin. Ken, skiing his property. Alex drops in. Alex Back at the chalet to consume calories. Views from the cabin. Some climbing was done the next day. Heading down a small ridge. Alex and Dave contemplate some options. Had some off and on flurries that didn't accumulate much. Ken drops into some trees. Dave cruising another mellow ridge above the reservoir. Dave and Alex, billy-goating their way out on Sunday.
Between the posh accommodations, and the sub-par quality of the snow...we didn't push ourselves to climb and ski as much as we could have. Needless to say, it was still a great time.
3/20 was the official first day of spring, so we celebrated with some fine corn skiing. We were still able to start on snow from the truck. Put the skis on our backs to gain the ridge, and then took in the views for a bit... Then dropped in. Alta the Dog and I took a look off the diving board. Mitch slashes into the choke. Good way to spend a Saturday morning. Thanks for the call Mitch.
Got out in the mountains behind the house a while back with Laurie and Sara. Paris Peak in the distance. It's time for an Alta the Dog pic. Paintbrush. Porch view. Backdoor view.
